Maureen can be found in the fortune theatre box office; the engine of the machine. Maureen is always there with her warmth for the patrons of the theatre. Her skills are fundamental to the marketing and sales component of the Fortune. We would be lost without her.
Louise Moulin
Marketing
Louise is a novelist. Her novel 'Saltskin' was published in 2007 by Random House. In between writing projects she organises marketing and publicity for the Fortune.
Miguel Nitis
Marketing and promotions
Miguel was raised in Dunedin and after studying electrical engineering for three years began working on his own short films. He came to the Fortune in 2009 and takes care of all the jobs that no-one else wants.
Peter King
Head of Design
Peter is the Head of Design and has worked at the theatre since 2001. He returned from Australia were he ran his own design and construction company. Peter now designs for most of the theatres productions. You can also see his work annually at the Dunedin Santa Parade. He has the fastest trolley in Dunedin.
Rebecca DeProspo
Production Technician
Bex hails originally from the USA but joins us from Scotland, where she has been living since 2001. She has an MSc in Sound Design from the University of Edinburgh and enjoys mix-mastering, sound-geekery and noise-making of all kinds.
Maryanne Wright–Smyth
Wardrobe Mistress
Costume designer and wardrobe mistress extraordinaire, Maryanne always keeps a cool head in the face of wardrobe malfunction. Often badgered by certain members of staff who like to dress up, Maryanne excels at letting them know that a certain dress is far too small without hurting their feelings. Has a serious shoe addiction.
Matt Best
Set Construction & Trainee Set Design
The perfect addition to the set design and construction team - Matt is a 'woody' kind of guy - he just loves wood (and paint!) In his spare time he also loves repairing his glider and making movies in the workshop (he is the character with the hat) and developing our Science Department (refer to recent on-line documentary).
Alister McDonald
Dramaturg
Alister has been repertoire adviser to the Fortune since 1982. In 1985, while completing his MLitt thesis in English at Otago University, he was invited by then Artistic Director, Tony Taylor, to join the company officially as Dramaturg. In addition to his research, archival and writing tasks he has also acted in and directed a number of productions for the company. A Fortune Board member since 1984 he has been the Board's Secretary since 1991.
Grant Benson
Bar Manager & FOH Support
Grant arrived at the Fortune Theatre this year in a golden carriage pulled by glitter-festooned horses to the accompanying sounds of angels singing and life has been a non-stop party ever since. Surely the most fantastic bar manager to ever tend the Fortune bar, patrons are assured that everything is 'fabulous Darling, fabulous'.
Sharon Hollander
Box office assistant
Sharon (or Shazzah as she is more commonly known)also works as a Teacher Aid at a Primary School in Dunedin where she has lived for the past 5 years. Sharon loves Dunedin after leaving the country for the big city!
