THE FORTUNE THEATRE & FMS PRODUCTIONS ON TOUR PRESENT
A NIGHT WITH BEAU TYLER an evening that will change your life! This show takes a crack at those Anthony Robbins type motivators who have cultivated a multi-billion dollar global business helping others to help themselves.
The show takes an entertaining swipe at the self-help movement through the personal journey of guru Beau Tyler, as he travels down into the hollow centre of his personality, and bounces back again, stunned but unrepentant.
Funny and thought provoking theatrical satire, Peter Feeney bases Beau Tyler on the television character he plays in the Tip Top Memphis Meltdown series of commercials. Feeney’s character has his own unique spin on the pseudo-science that is self-help; where those with the thinnest of credentials can diagnose in normal people symptoms with inflated or invented maladies – and implement remedies that have never been known to work…
“The Beau Tyler character, fallen guru, rising phoenix-like was a perfect balance of pathos with self-love and ultimately explained why the genre he is subverting works…” PULP MAGAZINE
Feeney’s talents have not strictly been limited to theatre and commercials. Many international movie goers will recognize ham as Angus Oldfield from the NZ comedy horror Black Sheep. He also starred in 30 Days of Night alongside Josh Hartnett. In the UK he appeared with Dudley Moore and Peter Cook biopic, Not Only But Always and the television series, Cold Feet.
NZ however knew of Feeney long before the rest of the world from his starring roles in: Shortland Street as Dr. Nathan Exley, Rude Awakenings as Dr. Spencer Fanti, and nomination for the “Best Short Film Performance” category at the 2003 NZ Film and TV awards for The Platform.
“If laughter is indeed the best medicine, then A Night with Beau Tyler is efficacious therapy indeed.” THEATRE VIEW
A Night with Beau Tyler was written and performed by Peter Feeney and directed by Greg Cooper who has been involved with theatre and film for over 16 years, as an actor, writer, producer and director. Greg appeared most notably and recently in the musical comedy ‘family’ Huntly High and Low extravaganza, that toured and appeared at the Dunedin Fringe.
A Night with Beau Tyler premiered at The Classic in Auckland for a three week run and was sold out for the final week and is now on a national tour and coming to a town NEAR YOU! For a list of venues and towns go to: www.feeneymcsweeney.com
