Mephymology at the Fortune Theatre
21 July 2007
After becoming the first Dunedin band to headline at the Regent Theatre last year since 1976, Mephymology will be performing an intimate explosion of Dunedin Rock n Roll in the Fortune Theatre on the 21st of July this year.
With their third EP 'Mephymology 103' being released at the Fortune Theatre concert they will complete the EP trilogy 'The Prerequisite Years' with '103' joining '101' & not surprisingly '102'.
This will be the bands first major Dunedin performance since the Regent Theatre last September although that does not mean Mephymology have been lying dormant. Over the summer months they headed out on their second national tour completing 35 shows in 40 days covering most all of the country.
Making the performance extra special for the band and fans is the fact that this gig will also be the last Dunedin show for Mephymology until September 2008, such is the busy schedule of this band. Over the next nine months Tom Mepham (drummer) and singer Rohan Callander will be going on their own journeys visiting every continent (bar Antarctica) on the globe and spending time in Nepal, Tanzania, Ecuador, Peru, Thailand and the USA. Returning from the adventure of a lifetime they are heading into the studio in Auckland to record their debut full length album.
A national wide 'Theatre' tour is planned for the last half of 2008 where Mephymology will once again put on a show in the Regent theatre which they claim will be "nothing ever dreamt of by a local Dunedin band!"
Keep you ears out and be one of the very limited ticket holders for their Fortune Theatre gig Saturday the 21st of July. Tickets $15, students $10.
