The Clean House
30 March – 21 April, 2007
Jude Gibson
With over 30 years experience in theatre, Jude has played a variety of leading roles from Shakespeare to Pinter, Noel Coward to Brecht, Ayckbourn to Renee. She returns to Dunedin after a sellout season as the Fairy Godmother in the Fortune Theatre's 'Cinderella' last year. Jude is excited at the prospect of bringing 'The Clean House' to Dunedin audiences and thankful for the challenges of such an extraordinary, poetic script.
Anna Henare
Anna is excited to be in 'The Clean House' and thankful for the opportunity to work with such a talented director, cast and technical crew. After receiving her BFA in theatre from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Anna worked with Seattle Repertory, Consolidated Works, and Angry Blvd., before heading back to New Zealand. Her last appearance at the Fortune Theatre was in The Graduate, and she was most recently seen in the new play 'Miss South Pacific' at the Maidment in Auckland. Anna would like to thank Paolo Lima and Adriana Moreno for their generous assistance with her Brasilian education.
Jen Wolfe
Jen Wolfe is thrilled to be back at the Fortune, where she made her New Zealand theatre debut in 'Always, Patsy Cline'.
Fortune Theatre audiences may also remember her in 'What the Butler Saw', 'The Herbal Bed', 'Antony and Cleopatra' and as the evil Erica in 'Kiwi Fruits'.
She can also be seen as Monster Mouth Myers in the upcoming Disney movie 'Bridge to Terabithia' opening in New Zealand on June 28, 2007.
Phil Darkins
Although he plays a surgeon, perhaps the best term to describe Phil is GP: General Performer. To date, his career has included radio announcing, commercial voice-overs, narration, animation voices, recording and performing original musical compositions, playing in rock bands, voicing TV game shows, composing & singing jingles, writing poetry, acting in TV commercials, playing baddies on TV shows and, lately, quite a lot of live theatre. Accordingly, Phil’s voice and face have been familiar throughout Australasia for the past 30 years. 'The Clean House' is his debut performance at the Fortune Theatre.
Hilary Norris
Hilary has been acting in professional theatre since 1975 and appeared in more plays at the Fortune Theatre than any other actor, and has also directed 25 professional productions, mostly for the Fortune. She is a co-founder of Wow! Productions and Panache and continues to be active in both organizations. She teaches on a regular basis in various institutions in the city.
She is well known in Dunedin for a variety of acting roles, most notably 'Shirley Valentine', 'White Shoes' and most recently 'The Gravedigger and the Player Queen' in 'Hamlet' at the Fortune Theatre in 2005.
She has been most prominent as a director in recent years, having been named as Best Director for the region in the Listener 2006 for 'My Heart is Bathed in Blood'. She is thrilled to be back treading the boards in 'The Clean House', working for the brilliant Jef Hall-Flavin and with the fantastic cast to create the character of Virginia. Sadly, unlike Virginia, she does not have a cleaning fetish and thanks her long suffering husband Richard for putting up with the mess at home!!
